Environmental reporting

It's important to us that we look after the environments in which we operate. We aim to deliver energy to the New Zealand market in a sustainable way that will carry our organisation into tomorrow and beyond. We carefully monitor the impacts our operations have on the environment, and work to reduce and mitigate these.

We recognise that water is a valuable resource and are committed to the careful and efficient use of water resources from our Clyde and Roxburgh hydro power stations. Occasionally water needs to be spilled from the dams for a variety of operational reasons. We report on these spills in our Hydro Spill Data reports which can be accessed below.

Our reporting is provided in accordance with the Voluntary Hydro Spill Reporting undertaken by major hydro generators. Industry standards are currently being finalised for hydro spill reporting and these tables will be updated to comply with these standards, as necessary.
