Our homes are too often draughty and expensive to heat. Around half of NZ homes have visible mould which isn’t healthy for us and sadly, half of NZ adults say they live in a cold house. Over 60% of Kiwis say their home needs repairs.
Consider this:
The HomeFit Online Check
Provides homeowners, renters and landlords as well as those curious about the home they are living in with a simple mechanism to assess their homes. A simple online check, designed either for Kiwis looking at homes to buy or rent or for homeowners wanting to know more about how to improve their home or rental. By answering some easy questions with a few clicks on your screen you can see immediately if it’s a warm, dry, healthy place to live – and what you can do to fix it if it isn’t. An assessor will still need to visit the dwelling to issue a HomeFit Certificate.
Get HomeFitCertified
A full, independent, HomeFit assessment and certification can be carried out by a trained HomeFit assessor. Should your home meet all the correct ventilation criteria it will get the HomeFit stamp. A HomeFit rating also gives buyers and renters confidence that a home meets ventilation, insulation, heating and energy efficiency standards, and gives landlords peace of mind that they’re meeting their obligations too.
Certification under HomeFit is undertaken by trained assessors who are located all over New Zealand. The HomeFit certificate will be able to be used on sale/rental of a property to confirm that the home has achieved the HomeFit® criteria, or has reached the HomeFit® Plus criteria that provide extra confidence. You can request a HomeFit assessor from the HomeFit website.

If your HomeFit Online Check or Certification shows that remedial work is required to bring your home up to standard, there are a range of HomeFit suppliers and installers the NZ Green building Council recommend to undertake any improvements.
