If monthly power bills feel harder to plan around, flexible billing may help by letting eligible Contact customers receive smaller bills weekly or fortnightly instead of monthly. It can make budgeting easier, especially if your pay cycle is weekly or fortnightly.
Flexible billing changes **when** you’re billed, not how much electricity you use. You’ll still pay for the power your household uses, and eligibility, direct debit and account requirements may apply.

A monthly bill can combine several weeks of electricity use into one larger amount. Weekly or fortnightly billing breaks that cost into smaller, more regular payments.
This can help you:
- line bills up with a weekly or fortnightly payday
- see changes in electricity use sooner
- adjust your household budget more frequently
- reduce the chance of a large monthly surprise.
More frequent billing does not reduce the amount of electricity you use or guarantee a lower total cost. It changes the timing and size of bills.
Weekly and fortnightly billing may use direct debit. Check the current flexible billing page for available payment methods.
Make sure enough money is available on the debit date. If a payment may be difficult, get in touch with Contact early so the team can talk through available support.
Eligibility can depend on the account type, services, meter, correspondence settings and payment method.
Existing Contact customers can use Contact’s current support channel to request a change. New customers may be able to choose the billing frequency while signing up.
Before switching, check:
- when the first bill will arrive
- when direct debits will be taken
- whether your other services remain on a different billing cycle
- how any existing balance will be handled.
Not by itself. Billing frequency changes when you are billed, not the electricity rate or the amount used.
It may be required. Confirm the current eligibility rules on the flexible billing support page.
You may be able to change your billing frequency again, depending on your account and Contact’s current flexible billing rules. Check the flexible billing support page or contact the customer team so you know what options are available before you switch.
