Contact is developing solar farms across the country with Lightsourcebp to help capture more of Aotearoa’s renewable energy potential. Kōwhai Park at Christchurch Airport is nearing completion, and work is due to get underway at Glorit on the Kaipara Coast later this year.

We’re exploring the power of wind to help strengthen New Zealand’s energy mix. Our development pipeline includes the recently consented Southland Wind Farm east of Wyndham.

We’re investing in projects that improve the performance of the hydro assets we operate and maintain, helping keep reliable renewable electricity flowing.

Our teams are building world-class geothermal generation through innovation and strong partnerships in the Taupō region, including a phased replacement of the Wairākei Power Station.

Contact’s grid-scale battery helps make the most of abundant renewable energy, storing it for when it’s needed most, and increasing the flexibility and reliability of Aotearoa’s electricity system. We’re underway with our second battery at Glenbrook in South Auckland.

Contact Energy’s vision is to lead the renewable energy future for New Zealand and contribute to the economic regeneration of the regions. As part of this, we are working with CDC to explore the potential to build a 250 MW data centre in Stratford, Taranaki.
