Contact reaches a key broadband milestone

Contact Energy (Contact) has marked a key milestone in its telecommunication business arm by reaching 100,000 broadband customers since starting to offer the service in 2017, reflecting New Zealanders’ increasing need for connectivity.

Contact is one of the fastest-growing broadband providers in recent years, with a quarter of its energy customers also being broadband customers.

“Broadband is core to our business,” says Matt Bolton, Chief Retail Officer at Contact. “Connectivity is becoming almost as big a need as energy, as Kiwis’ dependence on technology increases".

“We work hard to understand what value we can deliver for our customers. The growth in our broadband customer numbers is testament to the competitive and reliable broadband service we provide.”

Since 2019, Contact has partnered with Auckland-based wholesale internet service provider Devoli to provide bundled energy and broadband to retail customers across the country. Devoli’s advanced software platform and expert team have been integral to the fast and efficient growth of Contact’s broadband customer base, with Contact’s average rate of broadband connection growth being one of the fastest New Zealand’s market has ever seen.

Contact expanded its telecommunications service in August 2023 with the launch of Contact Mobile, which offers value for money mobile plans that cater to family and friends where an additional four people can be added to one of our base plans for only $25 a month per person.

“At Contact, we aim to give our customers choice at a fair price, and we offer a suite of energy, broadband and mobile plans that not only make it good to be home, but are also good for the wallet,” says Matt.
