Contact Energy is committed to helping create a sustainable energy future for New Zealand. We put our energy where it matters. We value ethical collaborative relationships with our business partners and suppliers. We care deeply about the health, safety and wellbeing of our people, customers, communities, and the environments we operate in.
We’re committed to responsible procurement practices with our suppliers. We believe that when we all act to improve sustainability and spur each other on, we enable mutual success.
Our Supplier Code of Conduct outlines the minimum standards we expect from our suppliers. Suppliers are required to comply with a standard no less than our Supplier Code of Conduct. Key requirements include:
We have an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) programme for our supply chain that helps our suppliers’ to develop values and practices that align with our Responsible Procurement Principles, Contact31+ strategy and Supplier Code of Conduct. It helps us identify and manage risks in our supply chain, including modern slavery, and work with suppliers to support their sustainability journey.
Our Supply Chain ESG Programme is governed by our Procurement Steering Committee. It’s made up of representatives from our Executive Leadership Team, with regular oversight from the Board Audit and Risk Committee. Day-to-day engagement is led by our Procurement and Contracting Team, alongside contract managers, ensuring ESG considerations are embedded in supplier engagement and procurement decisions across the business.
Our Contact Energy team stays up to date with leading procurement practices through active monitoring, employeelearning via our in-house platform 'Contact University', and local supplier engagement.
