Safety

Power networks and generation sites can be dangerous if you don’t know what to look out for.

We’re committed to keeping our people, contractors and visitors/the general public safe around the areas we operate. We have plans in place to help minimise risks around Contact Energy’s sites and operations.

Safety around stations, dams and waterways

If you’re visiting or spending time near one of our dams, power stations or nearby waterways, we want you to stay safe. Here are some simple tips to help.

Before you dig or work near lines

If you’re planning to dig or work near Contact Energy’s overhead power lines, you’ll need our written permission before you start.

Information for contractors

If you’re a contractor coming to work on a Contact Energy site, there is some information you’ll need to take a look at.

In an emergency, call 111 immediately!

If people or animals are trapped by fallen lines

Don’t try to approach or rescue them. Tell them to stay where they are until emergency crews arrive or confirm the power has been disconnected.
