Te Mata Hiko is Contact Energy’s māori name.

Ka Hiko ai te iwi is Contact Energy’s training and employment programme.

Te Mata Hiko investment includes covering all Ākoranga (course) costs, a Karahipi (scholarship) payment and initial PPE gear.

Ka Hiko Ākoranga is two weeks of FREE pre-trade health and safety training that will give you the skills to be able to safely start mahi on site.  On successful completion of Ka Hiko Ākoranga – ākonga start fulltime work with a Contractor on site.

Ka Hiko pre-trade Ākoranga are run monthly.

To be eligible, you need to be able to:

• pass pre-employment and random ongoing drug & alcohol tests
• physically fit, climb and lift heavy weights
• have reliable transport

We are also looking for qualified tradesmen and or people who have experience working on a Construction site.
