Te Mata Hiko – Contact Energy is investing $800million over three years to build the Tauhara 168 MW geothermal power generation plant, incorporating the world’s largest geothermal single shaft steam turbine. The construction of Tauhara Power Station has created many training and job opportunities.
Ka Hiko ai te iwi is Contact Energy’s training and employment programme.
Our free two-week pre-trade training includes site safe construction passport, risk assessment, safety observer, first aid, working at heights – advanced, mobile elevated work platforms, confined space, and gas testing. On completion of our course, you will start work fulltime mahi with a Contractor on our Tauhara Construction site.
What do I need? To be able to pass random drug tests, be physically fit and have reliable transport.

We are currently looking for people who are Builders, Carpenters & Electricians, Mechanical Fitters & Welders, Scaffolders & Riggers. And also people who have these qualifications Wheels, Tracks & Rollers, Mobile Elevated Work Platforms, Height and Harness, Confined Space, First Aid, and Site Safe Construction passports. And more people who have work experience in Civil work, concrete laying, formwork, reinforcing, structural work, and foundations.
